Over the 15th, 16th and 17th August more than 20 local bands and musicians gathered at the White Lion to play in an exciting weekend of celebration to raise money and awareness of the 2015 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta and Walkern’s part in it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Too many to say except it was a huge team effort and without everyone’s united efforts it would not of been the amazing weekend that it turned out to be. All I can say is I’m very proud to live in a fantastically talented and community spirited village that is Walkern. May this be the beginning of at least a year of celebration of the history of our village and the present community that now exists. There were some people who were from outside Walkern who were equally great too, hopefully they will stay in touch and help us celebrate the 800 years of Magna Carta !
What an amazing weekend. On behalf of Walkern History Society and the village’s Magna Carta 800th committee thank you all sooooo much for coming along and being so generous. A huge thank you to all of the wonderful performers and everyone who helped for making it such a great festival. A special thanks to Kriss at The Practise Roomz for doing the sound, Michael Rees for taking photos, and especially to Sandie & Brian, and Steve at the White Lion – none of it would have happened without them!!!!
