2013 11 16a Unveiling of Walkern History Board White Lion 21Board C, located outside the White Lion (1) concentrates on the High Street nearby. This includes Walkern’s Cuckold Riding riot, and histories of the Three Limes (2), Vale House & the village pound (3), the Whitesmith’s cottage (4), Redlyn the former Red Lion pub (5), Kitchener Stores (6), Capel House & the village cage (7), the Three Elms (8), and the wood yard (9). Board C Walkern History Trail Map

We’re bringing my 95 year old father, Douglas Canning back to Walkern on August 12th 2017 to revisit the village he grew up in.
Of particular interest will be Cannings wood yard where his father Francis had his builder’s yard.
It should provoke quite a few memories.
