Keith Fitzpatrick Matthews of North Herts Museum lead us through our first test pit dig in the grounds of Walkern’s United Reformed Church
Our finds were very exciting, producing our first fragments of Mediaeval pottery, our first Mesolithic or Neolithlic debitage (waste from manufacturing stone tools), plus a possible pounding stone, or hammerstone, for chipping off flint flakes when making tools.
