Application and consent to variation of works

To the Right Reverend Edgar Lord Bishop of St Albans and to Montague Rhodes James, Doctor in Letters, Provost of the King?s College of our Lady and Saint Nicholas in Cambridge and the scholars of the same collage, the patrons of the said Benefice of Walkern

Henry John Philpotts, Clerk, MA, Incumbent of the Benefice of Walkern in the county of Hertford and Diocese of St Albans do hereby represent that I am desirous of altering or remodelling certain of the buildings of my said benefice according to the specification hereunder written, and desire in pursuance of section fifty of the above Act as so to render impracticable or unnecessary certain of the repairs which I am liable to execute. Accordingly I request your Lordship as Bishop and you the said Patrons to give your respective consents to the execution by me of the said proposed works in lieu of the repairs so rendered impracticable or unnecessary as aforesaid.

Dated this thirteenth day of July one thousand nine hundred and ten

To remove the Glebe cottage belonging to the buildings of the above Benefice
— and in lieu thereof —
To remove portions of the Glebe cottage belonging to the buildings of the said Benefice which were not destroyed by the recent fire and to alter and rebuild the rest of the cottage

We Edgar by Divine Permission Bishop of St Albans being the Bishop of the Diocese wherein I situate the benefice of Walkern aforesaid and Montague Rhodes James, Doctor in Letters, Provost of King?s College of our Lady and Saint Nicholas in Cambridge and the scholars of the same collage, the patrons of the said Benefice of Walkern do hereby give our respective consents to the above application.
