My ancestors the Aylett family lived in Walkern for many generations. Most seemed to be agricultural labourers but later some carpenters, grooms and gardeners. I would like to know where and at waht they worked and exactly where they lived please. My public tree on Ancestry is @Josephine Salt Family Tree 27 April 2015′ if anyone wants to look to see if they are related to me.

I think my great grandfather Edward Draper was a servant at Walkern Hall farm (Clay Hall farm) in the 1840’s before moving to Australia with his brother under the Assisted Immigration Scheme in 1850. His parents were George and Jane ( Bonfield) Draper

Hi Mary-Jane

I believe this is true, I have found a Mary Bonfield on the 1871 census with her occupation as housekeeper at Clay Hall Mansion. Her age is 68 years old and in her household is her slightly younger sister Sarah Wing and a Susan Bonfield age 36 (down as visitor).
Best wishes

Hi Tom, sorry for delay in thanking your for the information, (3 years later). Thank you very much. Do you know if there would be any archive information from clay hall and where it may be stored?
Kind regards

I believe one of my relatives, Mary Bonfield (nee Sadler) was a house keeper at Clay Hall in 07/04/1871. I would like to know if that is true.

I think my Grandparents were servants at Walkern Hall in the early 1900’s, so I look forward to seeing this new item.
