Come to Walkern’s latest Magna Carta event, taking place next Saturday 7th March from 2pm at the newly restored United Reformed Church.

As part of our Magna Carta celebrations, volunteers are creating an elaborately embroidered ‘medieval tabard’ which will eventually be on display near the effigy of our Magna Carta baron, William de Lanvalei, at St Mary’s Church.

The volunteers are being taught embroidery and goldwork, and on Saturday will be showing what they have done so far, and explain how the tabard will be constructed. There will also be a display of Magna Carta costumes, also made within the village.

The church is located in the High Street at the north of the village (postcode SG2 7NT) Opposite the dovecote and almost at the corner with Church Lane.
